THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
Please Note – The High Yield Q5942X is NOT COMPATIBLE with the HP LaserJet 4240 and LaserJet 4240n printers. For these printers they must use the Q5942A cartridge.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. This is especially important as the 42X is not compatible with all the printers that use the 42A.
There is a smart chip located on the top of the cartridge. Check the two gold connection points for damage or debris. A clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the connections.
Check to make sure the toner is installed correctly and is fully inserted into the printer.
Print Quality Issues
There is a pull seal on the side of the cartridge that must be completely pulled out prior to installing the cartridge into the printer. It is important that this pull seal is completely removed.
Holding the cartridge by its ends, gently rock the cartridge from left to right a few times to evenly distribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge protected by a spring loaded plastic cover. Lift up the plastic cover to look at the OPC drum. Do NOT touch the OPC drum. Visually check the OPC drum for damage or debris. You can use a soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently clean the drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
