THESE CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM UNIT INTEGRATED.  THERE IS AN INDIVIDUAL DRUM UNIT FOR EACH COLOR WHICH IS A REPLACEABLE MAINTENANCE ITEM.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct drum unit for your specific model printer.

There’s a smart chip located on the end of the toner cartridge.  Check the chip for damage or debris.  A Q-tip or a clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the two gold contacts.

Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and fully inserted into the printer.  Also verify the correct color cartridge is being installed into the correct slot.

Print Quality Issues

There are no seals that need to be removed however when the cartridge is installed into the printer a small plastic slide opens to release the toner powder.  Be sure that the cartridge is fully inserted into the printer.  If the cartridge is not fully inserted then the slide on the cartridge may not be fully open and not releasing the toner powder properly.  These are pretty basic toner cartridges and have very few moving parts.  They are mostly just containers of toner.

Hold both sides of the cartridge and shake up and down 5-6 times to make sure the toner powder is loosened and evenly distributed inside the toner cartridge.  This should also be done if you are experiencing light prints.

To help determine print quality issues there is a Print Quality Troubleshooting Page that can be printed on the printer.  To print this page;

1. Press Menu.

2. Press the down arrow  to highlight DIAGNOSTICS, and then press the checkmark  button .

3. Press the down arrow  to highlight PQ TROUBLESHOOTING, and then press the checkmark  button to print the pages.

The product returns to the READY state after printing the print-quality-troubleshooting pages. Follow the instructions on the pages that print out.

Ghosting, streaking, lines, and repeating image defects will be an issue with the drum unit.  To determine which color is causing the issue look at the Print Quality Troubleshooting Page.  Check to see if the defect occurs only with a certain color or if the problem is occurring throughout the page regardless of color.  We do sell replacement drum units and each color has its own separate, replaceable drum unit.

If the colors looked skewed or the image seems uneven then re-calibrating the printer may solve this issue.  To re-calibrate the printer;

2. Press the down arrow  to highlight CONFIGURE DEVICE, and then press the checkmark  button

3. Press the down arrow  to highlight PRINT QUALITY, and then press the checkmark  button .
