THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM INTEGRATED.  THE DRUM UNIT IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEM.

This is not a toner cartridge that installs into the printer.  Instead it simply re-fills the toner box inside the printer with toner powder and then is discarded.

 

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer.

 

Being that you are not physically installing a toner cartridge but rather just adding toner powder to the printer there are more steps than what’s normally done when just installing a cartridge.  To add toner powder to the Canon ImageRunner 5000/6000 do the following;

–          Open the toner supply cover.

 

–          Hold the toner bottle with both hands and turn it up and down a few times to evenly distribute the toner inside the bottle.

 

–          Align the protrusions of the toner bottle with the slots on the toner supply port.  Gently press the toner bottle down onto the toner supply port until you hear a click.  The toner bottle is now locked onto the toner supply port.

 

–          Press down lightly on the toner bottle with one hand, and pull out the black shutter of the toner supply port as far as it will go.

 

–          Grip the shutter of the toner bottle, and pull it out slowly until stops.  Toner will flow into the toner box.

 

–          Lightly tap the top of the toner bottle to make sure that all of the toner empties into the toner box.

 

–          Push back the shutter of the toner bottle.

 

–          Make sure you hear a click when the black shutter of the toner supply port has been pushed back in as far as the l◄ position.

 

–          Remove the empty toner bottle from the toner supply port.

 

–          Close the toner supply cover.  Press the [Recover Later/Done] key to close the screen prompting you to add toner.

 

Print Quality Issues

 

All print quality issues will be related to the separate drum unit or the printer itself.  If the prints start becoming light then they might be running low on toner powder in their toner box or their drum needs replacing.

 

If toner dust or specks show on the printed paper, clean the wire of the corona assemblies.  To do this do the following;

–          Press the ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS key.

–          Select Adjustment/Cleaning.

–          Use the ▲ or ▼ keys to select Wire Cleaning and press ►.

–          Press START to begin cleaning.

 

–          The cleaning process will begin and take a couple minutes.

 

–          Once cleaning finishes, press the [Done] key.

 

Not Fitting

 

Verify they have the correct toner cartridge for their specific printer model.  This cartridge does not install into the machine, rather just adds toner to the internal toner box of the printer.  Verify the installation by following the instructions outlined before.
