THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. There are two projecting tabs on the side of the cartridge which fit into channels inside the printer to help the cartridge fit in properly. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.
Print Quality Issues
There’s a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation. It is important that this pull tape seal is fully removed. If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape seal probably hasn’t been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.
Holding the cartridge by its ends, gently shake the cartridge to evenly redistribute the toner powder.
To help diagnose print quality issues there is a Test Print page that can be printed. To print the Test Print page;
a. Press the Menu keys (labeled 1 or 5) to scroll to the Print Menu.
b. Press the Item keys (labeled 2 or 6) to scroll to Test Print.
c. Press the Enter key (labeled 4). The Test Print pages should print.
Look at the outputted pages to determine the print quality defect. Ghost images and repeating images are usually a problem with the OPC drum and the cartridge should be replaced.
The OPC drum is located on the back of the cartridge protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter. Lift the shutter to view the OPC drum. Do NOT touch the drum. Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris. A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the OPC drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
