THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT.  THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

There is no smart chip on this cartridge so it’s key that the cartridge is installed correctly into the printer and is fully inserted.  Hold the Laser Printer cartridge as shown below and insert it fully into the guide channels until it clicks into place. Use the color markers on both the left guide channel and the cartridge for correct alignment with the cartridge.

You can also try resetting the printer by turning the printer off, disconnecting the power cord for 10-15 seconds, plugging the printer back on, and turning the printer on.

Print Quality Issues

There’s a piece of paper held on by tape which goes under the plastic shutter and covers the OPC drum.  This paper will need to be removed prior to installation.

There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be removed prior to installation.  It is important that this pull tape seal is fully removed.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape seal probably hasn’t been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.

Hold the cartridge as shown below and gently rock it seven to eight times to distribute the toner evenly.

The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift the shutter to view the OPC drum.  Do NOT touch the drum.  Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris.  A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the OPC drum if needed.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
