THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
Not Recognizing
Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.
The toner has a smart chip located on the top front of the cartridge. Check to ensure this chip is undamaged and clean. You can clean the two gold contact points using a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
To remove and install the toner cartridge into a HP Laserjet 2300 Series printer do the following;
– Open the top cover to the printer.
– Remove the toner cartridge by grasping it by its handle and lifting up.
– Slide the new toner cartridge into the printer as far as it will go.
– Close the top cover.
Print Quality Issues
There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation. It is important that this pull tape seal is fully removed from the cartridge. If the cartridge is printing blank pages or printed 2-3 pages and now prints blank then the pull tape seal has not been removed or broke off inside the cartridge while being removed.
Holding the cartridge by its ends, gently roll it left to right a few times to redistribute the toner inside.
Over time, particles of toner and paper accumulate inside the printer. This can cause print quality issues during printer. Cleaning the printer eliminates or reduces these issues. To clean inside the printer do the following;
– Open the top cover.
– Remove the print cartridge.
– With a dry, lint-free cloth, wipe any residue from the paper path area and the print cartridge cavity.
– Reinsert the toner cartridge.
– Close the top cover.
If toner specks are appearing on the printed pages then the fuser and paper path may be dirty. HP recommends running a cleaning page any time the toner cartridge has been changed. This cleaning page helps remove excess toner particles from the fuser and paper path. To run the cleaning page do the following;
– Press the SELECT button to open the menus.
– Press ▲ or ▼ to scroll to CONFIGURE DEVICE , and then press SELECT.
– Press ▲ or ▼ to scroll to PRINT QUALITY, and then press SELECT.
– Press ▲ or ▼ to scroll to CREATE CLEANING PAGE, and then press SELECT.
– Follow the instructions on the cleaning page to complete the cleaning process.
If the toner is smearing off the paper or isn’t adhering properly, make sure the paper settings on the printer match the paper type being used. Thicker paper, such as labels or bonded paper, require a different paper setting to allow more heating while printing to ensure the toner melts properly to the paper. Trying to print on thicker paper while under that standard paper setting will cause the toner not to get enough heat to melt properly.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge covered by a spring loaded protective plastic cover. Lift the protective cover to view the OPC drum. Do not touch the drum. Visually inspect the drum for damages or debris. A clean, dry, lint-free, cloth can be used to gently wipe the OPC drum. Do not use moisture of any kind.
Not Fitting
Verify they have the correct toner cartridge for their specific printer model. Make sure the pull tape seal has been removed from the side of the cartridge. Check inside the printer for any obstructions. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
