THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT.  THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

There’s no smart chip on this cartridge.  Instead the cartridge hits an actuator inside the printer when installed to let the printer know that a cartridge is inserted and resets the page count.  Make sure that the cartridge is installed correctly and fully inserted into the printer.  The cartridge installs under the front cover of the printer.  The front cover pops open and swings down.  There are arrow guides in the printer to guide the toner cartridge.

Print Quality Issues

There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be removed prior to installation.  It is important that this pull tape is fully removed.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape has probably not been removed or it has broken off inside the cartridge when it was pulled out.

Rotate the toner cartridge back forth 5 or 6 times to redistribute the toner.

The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift the spring loaded shutter to view the OPC drum.  Do NOT touch the drum.  Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris.  Use a soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the drum.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
