INK TANK – These don’t have a print head attached so DO NOT do the paper towel method.
This is a compatible cartridge so there will be some differences between this and the OEM. These differences will not affect the function.
Not Recognizing
Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.
Verify that the cartridge is installed properly.
There’s a smart chip located on the front inside of the cartridge, above the nozzles. Check the gold contacts for damage or debris. A clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the gold contacts.
To remove and install the ink cartridge into a Pitney Bowes DM800 or DM900 machine do the following;
– Lift up the main cover.
– Press the thumb tab on the ink cartridge cover to lift open. Lift up the link cartridge cover. Bring the cover all the way back; this will lift up the ink cartridge for easy removal.
– Remove the ink cartridge by lifting it out of the holder.
– Insert the new cartridge with the grooves of the case facing you.
– Close the ink cartridge cover until you hear it snap.
– Close the main cover.
Print Quality Issues
The meter performs automatic maintenance regularly to help keep the print nozzles clear however if lines are missing in the print this means there is some clogged nozzles on the printhead. The printhead is separate from the cartridge.
A print nozzle cleaning should be performed any time there are print quality issues. To run the print nozzle cleaning do the following;
– Press the MENU key.
– Select MAINTENANCE.
– Select CLEAN PRINTER NOZZLE. The machine will proceed with a cleaning cycle.
If the print quality issue persists, it may be necessary to run a second cleaning. The cleanings should be done sparingly as they do consume ink to complete.
Not Fitting
Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model. Be sure the tape has been removed from the outside of the cartridge. Check inside the machine to make sure there are no obstructions which may be preventing the cartridge from installing. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
