These toner cartridges do not have the OPC drums built into them.  There is a separate, replaceable drum unit for each color.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer.

There’s a smart chip located on the top back of the toner cartridge.  Check the chip for damage or debris.  If needed; a clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to clean the four gold contact points.

Check to make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and fully inserted into the printer.  Verify they are installing the correct color into the correct slot.  There is a front lever that must be moved up and a lock lever that must be pushed to the left as far as it will go to ensure the cartridge is properly locked.

Color order from left to right looking at the printer; Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, and Black.

Print Quality Issues

There is a pull tape seal on the front of the cartridge that must be removed.  To help prevent spillage, its best to pull out the pull tape seal while the cartridge is installed into the printer.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape seal probably wasn’t removed or broke off inside the cartridge while being pulled out.

Shake the cartridge left to right a few times to redistribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.

Almost all repetitive image defects, ghosting, lines, and streaking issues will be an issue with the drum unit.  The drum units are separate and are maintenance items that will need to be changed usually after 4-6 toner changes.  There is a separate drum unit for each color.
