THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE IMAGING DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT.  THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM.

Not Recognizing

Verify the customer has the correct cartridge for their specific printer.

The OEM Q2613X has a smart chip, however our cartridge does not.  The printer will prompt about using a non-OEM cartridge that you will need to press OK to bypass.  After that, the cartridge should work with no issues.

To install the cartridge into a HP Laserjet 1300 do the following;

–          Open the print cartridge door.  You will some resistance when you open the print cartridge door.  Opening the print cartridge door conveniently lifts the print cartridge for removal.  Remove the print cartridge.

–          Insert the new print cartridge in the printer, making sure that the print cartridge is in position.  Close the print cartridge door.

Print Quality Issues

There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation.  It is important that this pull tape seal is completely removed.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape seal probably hasn’t been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge when being removed.

Try gently rocking the cartridge from front to back 5 times to redistribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.

If the toner is smearing off the paper or isn’t adhering properly, make sure the paper settings on the printer match the paper type being used.  Thicker paper, such as labels or bonded paper, require a different paper setting to allow more heating while printing to ensure the toner melts properly to the paper.  Trying to print on thicker paper while under that standard paper setting will cause the toner not to get enough heat to melt properly.

If there are toner specks or dots on the printed pages then the printer media path may be dirty.  A cleaning page should be printed to help clean the path.  To print the cleaning page do the following;

–          Make sure the printer is idle and the Ready light is on.

–          Load paper into the paper tray.

–          On the printer control panel, press and hold the GO button until all three lights come on (about 10 seconds).  When all three lights come on, release the GO button.

–          The printer will begin cleaning.  The cleaning process will take around 2 minutes to complete.

The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift the shutter to view the OPC drum.  Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris.  Do NOT touch the OPC drum.  A soft, dry, clean, lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the drum.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.

Not Fitting

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific model printer.  Make sure the pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge has been removed.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions.  Check the cartridge itself for phyiscal damage.
