THIS IS A THERMAL FAX FILM ROLL. IT USES A CARBON FILM SHEET AND HEAT TO TRANSFER THE TEXT TO THE PAPER. AS PRINTING OCCURS THE USED FILM SHEET WILL ROLL TO ONE SIDE OF THE CARTRIDGE.
THIS IS SOLD AS A TWO PACK. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE FILM CARTRIDGE, THESE ARE REFILL ROLLS FOR AN EXISTING FILM CARTRIDGE.
Not Recognizing
This is a refill for the existing film cartridge. There is no chip used in the film cartridge, there is a “leader” built into the film that will trip a sensor so the machine knows a new roll has been installed. If they are getting a “Check Film” error then the film was not installed correctly into the film cartridge. Follow the instructions below.
To remove and replace the film roll in the film cartridge in a Brother Intellifax 900 fax machine do the following;
– Open the top cover. Press the blue button, the printer head will pop up.
– Remove the film cartridge from the printer.
– Open the cartridge by releasing the four hooks (one on each corner) and lift the cartridge covers open.
– Remove the ribbon and spools from the cartridge. Remove all the gears from the spools. Place the gears into the replacement ribbon and install the ribbon and take-up spool into the cartridge. Close the cartridge in the same manner it was opened.
– Tighten the ribbon in the cartridge carefully.
– Carefully install the film cartridge making sure that the cartridge gears rest in the white gear holders.
– Push down the printer head slowly and completely. Close the top cover.
Print Quality Issues
There is a white band and blue plastic protective sheet cover to remove prior to installation.
If dirty patterns or black bands appear on a copied or received document then the print head may be dirty. To clean the print head do the following;
– Open the top cover. Press the blue button, the printer head will pop up.
– Using a lint-free, clean, soft, dry, cloth wipe the print head until it is clean.
– Push down the printer head slowly and completely. Close the top cover.
Not Fitting
Verify they have the correct refill roll for their specific printer model. Make sure they are installing this into the film cartridge that is in their printer. Double-check their installation of the film roll core by following the steps outlined previously.
