THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE INTEGRATED DRUM UNIT.  THE DRUM IS A SEPARATE UNIT FROM THE TONER CARTRIDGE.

This is a compatible cartridge so there will be differences from the OEM cartridge.  These differences will not affect the function of the cartridge.

Not Recognizing

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.

There’s a piece of cardboard held on by tape which covers the smart chip.  Make sure this has been removed.

There is a smart chip located on the end of the cartridge.  Check the smart chip for damage or debris.  A clean, soft, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the gold contacts.

Make sure the cartridge is fully locked in the printer and that it is fully inserted.

To install the cartridge in a Toshiba E-Studio 205 do the following;

–          Open the front cover.

–          Hold down the green lever.

–          Pull out the toner cartridge.

–          Make sure that the green lever is still in the raised position.  Install the new toner cartridge along the rails.  Insert it until you hear a click.

–          It is important to clean the charger anytime the toner cartridge is replaced.  To clean the charger, hold the cleaning knob of the charger and pull it out toward you carefully until it comes to a stop.

–          Open the side cover.

–          Pull the transfer unit toward you carefully to lay it down while holding up the green lever.

–          Remove the transfer charger cleaner from the front pocket of the transfer unit.

–          Wipe the transfer charger wire with the transfer charger cleaner.  Insert the transfer charger cleaner into the front end of the transfer charger.  Push the cleaner onto the front wall, and then check if the cleaner pad has contacted with the transfer charger wire.  Clean the wire from its front end to the other end in two reciprocating motions.  Remove the cleaner from the front end of the transfer charger after cleaning.

–          Return the transfer charger cleaner into the cleaner pocket, and then close the transfer unit.

–          Close the side cover.  Close the front cover.

Print Quality Issues

Make sure that the cleaning steps outlined above were completed.

Remove the tape seal from the toner shutter on the cartridge.

Shake the toner cartridge to loosen the toner inside.  Sometimes, the toner can become compacted inside the cartridge.

Ghosting, lines, streaking, and repeating defects will be a drum related issue.  The drum unit is separate from the toner cartridge and is a replaceable, maintenance item.  After a certain period of usage the drum will need replacing.

Not Fitting

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.  Make sure that the green lever is in the up position when installing the cartridge.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
