THESE TONER CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUMS INTEGRATED INTO THE CARTRIDGE. THERE ARE SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, INDIVIDUAL DRUM UNITS FOR EACH COLOR.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific model printer.
There’s no smart chip on this cartridge so it’s important that the cartridge is installed correctly, fully inserted into the printer, and locked into place. Insert the left end of the cartridge into the top of the image drum unit first, pushing it against the spring on the drum unit, then lower the right end of the cartridge down onto the image drum unit.
Pressing gently down on the cartridge to ensure that it is firmly seated, push the colored lever towards the rear of the printer. This will lock the cartridge into place and release toner into the image drum unit.
Make sure that the correct color cartridge is being installed into the correct color slot. The color order from top to bottom is Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black.
Print Quality Issues
Ghost images, streaking, lines, and repeating image defects are drum related issues. There is an individual drum unit for each color which is separate from the toner cartridge. The drum units are maintenance items and will need to be replaced usually after 4-6 toner changes.
There’s tape seal on the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation. It is important that this tape seal is removed as it opens the passages for the toner powder to come out of the cartridge.
Gently shake the new cartridge from end to end several times to loosen and distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.
It is important that you clean the LED heads on your printer after installing new cartridges. The LED heads are found under the top cover of the printer. You will want to use a soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the LED heads. If you do not clean the LED heads then you may experience white streaks or faded prints. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL OR SOLVENTS AS THIS WILL DAMAGE THE LED HEAD.
Check the outputted pages to see where the image defect is occurring. Try to see if there is a pattern with the defect and a particular color. For example, lines only appears in areas cyan is being used then the cyan drum unit should be checked.
