THIS IS A THERMAL FAX FILM ROLL. IT USES A CARBON FILM SHEET AND HEAT TO TRANSFER THE TEXT TO THE PAPER. AS PRINTING OCCURS THE USED FILM SHEET WILL ROLL TO ONE SIDE OF THE CARTRIDGE.
THIS IS SOLD AS A TWO PACK. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE FILM CARTRIDGE, THESE ARE REFILL ROLLS FOR AN EXISTING FILM CARTRIDGE.
Not Recognizing
This is a refill for the existing film cartridge. There is no chip used in the film cartridge, there is a “leader” built into the film that will trip a sensor so the machine knows a new roll has been installed. If they are getting a “Check Film” error then the film was not installed correctly into the film cartridge. Follow the instructions below.
To remove and replace the film roll in the film cartridge in a Panasonic KX-FM210 fax machine do the following;
– Slide the front cover open lever forward to unlock the front cover and lift to open. Remove the film cartridge.
– Unlock the four gears by (A) pulling the top side gears (blue and green gears) forward and (B) pushing back the bottom side gears (green gears). Remove the used film.
– Remove the four gears from the used film cores.
– Insert the blue gear into the blue core of the new film.
– Insert the film into the cartridge so that the blue gear matches the blue label on the cartridge.
– Lock the four gears of the film by (A) pushing back the top side gears and (B) pulling the bottom side gears forward until they lock into place.
– Make sure the film is tight. Tighten it by winding the bottom side gears.
– Insert the film cartridge by matching the blue label on the cartridge with that on the unit.
– Close the front cover securely by pushing down on both ends.
– The unit will check the film is set correctly and will tell you to please wait.
– If the following message is displayed, the film is not inserted into the cartridge properly. Re-do the steps above.
Print Quality Issues
There is a white band and blue plastic protective sheet cover to remove prior to installation.
If dirty patterns or black bands appear on a copied or received document then the thermal head may be dirty. To clean the thermal head do the following;
– Disconnect the power cord and telephone cord.
– Slide the lever forward to unlock the front cover and lift to open.
– Clean the thermal head with a cloth moistened with isopropyl rubbing alcohol, and let dry thoroughly.
– Close the front cover by gently pressing down on both ends.
– Connect the power cord and the telephone line cord.
Not Fitting
Verify they have the correct refill roll for their specific printer model. Make sure they are installing this into the film cartridge that is in their printer. Double-check their installation of the film roll core by following the steps outlined previously.
