THIS IS A THERMAL FAX FILM ROLL. IT USES A CARBON FILM SHEET AND HEAT TO TRANSFER THE TEXT TO THE PAPER. AS PRINTING OCCURS THE USED FILM SHEET WILL ROLL TO ONE SIDE.
Not Recognizing
There is a “leader” built into the film that will trip a sensor so the machine knows a new roll has been installed. If they are getting a “Check Film” error then the film was not installed correctly into the film cartridge. Follow the instructions below.
– Press down the printer cover open button (1). Open the printer cover (2).
– Pull out the blue gear and remove the used ink film. Remove the used core.
– Insert the gear of the blue core of the front ink film into the left slot of the unit (1). Insert the rear ink film roll (2).
– Turn the gear of the blue core in the direction of the arrow.
– Make sure that the ink film is wrapped around the blue core at least once.
– Close the printer cover by pushing down on both sides until locked.
Print Quality Issues
There is a clear rubber band to remove prior to installation.
If dirty patterns or black bands appear on a copied or received document then the thermal head may be dirty. To clean the thermal head do the following;
– Disconnect the power cord and the telephone line cord.
– Press down the printer cover open button (1). Open the printer cover (2).
– Remove the ink film and clean the thermal head with a cloth moistened with isopropyl rubbing alcohol, and let it dry thoroughly.
– Turn the gear of the blue core in the direction of the arrow.
– Make sure that the ink film is wrapped around the blue core at least once.
– Lift two locks (1), lower the exit guide to unlock the two locks (2) and open the exit guide (3).
– Clean the roller shaft with a cloth moistened with isopropyl rubbing alcohol, and let it dry thoroughly.
– Close the exit guide.
– Close the printer cover by pushing down on both sides until locked.
– Connect the power cord and the telephone line cord.
