THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM INTEGRATED.  THE DRUM UNIT IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEM.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model printer.

There is a smart chip located on the top of the toner cartridge.  Check the chip for damage or debris.  A clean, dry, lint-free cloth or Q-tip can be used to gently clean the two gold contacts.

Make the cartridge is installed correctly and is fully inserted into the printer.  The sides of the toner cartridge align with guides in the printer to help guide the cartridge into the correct position.  The front cover opens by sliding a release button to the left and lifting the cover until it clicks into an open position.

Print Quality Issues

There is a piece of paper held on by tape which must be removed prior to installation.

Gently shake the toner cartridge from side to side and front to back to distribute the toner.

Ghost images, streaking, lines, and repeating image defects are usually a problem with the drum unit.  The drum unit is a separate, replaceable, maintenance item that will usually need to be changed after 4-6 toner changes.  We do not currently carry the replacement drum unit.

The cartridge uses a small rubber roller to distribute toner powder onto the OPC drum roller in the drum unit that physically puts the images to paper.  You can check the rubber roller on the cartridge itself for any cracks or defects.  Do NOT clean the rubber roller or use moisture of any kind.

Leaking

This toner does not have any pull seal tabs and as a result a little toner dust on the cartridge is normal.  The protective paper that covers the toner roller has a piece of foam that covers the roller to help collect any loose toner dust.  However, vibrations during shipping may cause the roller to rotate a little and allow a little toner powder to leak.  This is normal.  You can clean excess toner dust off the cartridge by gently wiping the cartridge with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth or gently blowing on it.  Be careful with compressed air as this may blow too powerfully and blow toner powder out of the cartridge.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
