THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
There are 4 colors in this series; Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.
These are compatible cartridges so there will be some differences between these cartridges and the OEM. These differences will not affect the function.
Not Recognizing
Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.
There is a smart chip located on the side inside of the toner cartridge. Check the smart chip for damage or debris. A clean, dry, lint-free, cloth can be used to gently clean the gold contacts.
To remove and install the cartridge into a Konica Minolta MagiColor 5430DL printer do the following;
– Check the message window to see which color of toner is empty.
– Open the printer’s front cover.
– Press down the area marked “Push” on the toner cartridge to be replaced, and then slide the cartridge out until the handle is visible.
– Grasp the handle, and then slide the cartridge all the way out of the printer. Make note of the locations of the color cartridges.
– Holding the toner cartridge by its handle, slide the cartridge into the printer. Make sure the correct color is being installed into the correct slot.
– Lower the handle, and then slide the cartridge the rest of the way into the printer until it locks into place.
– Remove the pull tape seal from the toner cartridge by slowly pulling it straight out.
– Close the front cover.
Print Quality Issues
For any print quality issue you will want to try to determine if the problem is occurring with a specific color or if it is occurring across the board. Check printed documents to see if the issue is only occurring where a specific color is.
There’s a piece of paper held on by tape which protects the OPC drum which must be removed prior to installation.
There’s a pull tape seal which must be removed. Remove the pull tape seal while the cartridge is installed in the printer. If this pull tape seal is not removed or breaks inside the cartridge while being removed then that color will not print or may print 2-3 pages before printing blank.
The OPC drum is located on the inside of the cartridge. Check the OPC drum for damage or debris. A dry, clean, soft, lint-free, cloth can be used to gently clean the OPC drum if needed. Do NOT touch the OPC drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
If lines are appearing across ALL colors then the laser lens of the printer may be dirty. To clean the laser lens do the following;
– Open the printer’s front cover.
– Align the marks at the bottom of the toner cartridge, insert the laser lens cleaning tool between the waste toner bottle and the yellow toner cartridge with the cleaning pad pointing down, and then slide it back and forth 2 or 3 times. Clean between each of the toner cartridges in the same way.
– Close the front cover.
Not Fitting
Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model. Verify the correct color is being installed into the correct slot in the printer. Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct orientation. Check inside the printer for any obstructions which may be causing the cartridge not to install correctly. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
