THIS IS NOT A TONER CARTRIDGE. THIS IS JUST THE DRUM UNIT.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct drum unit for your specific printer model. This is NOT a toner cartridge.
There is a smart chip located on the bottom of the drum unit. Check the chip for damage or debris. A clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the gold contacts.
To remove and install the drum unit into a HP Color Laserjet 2500 Series printer do the following;
– Open the top cover of the printer.
– Push the drum unit forward then pull the drum unit out from the printer.
– Insert the new drum unit into the printer using the arrows on the drum unit and arrows in the printer to help guide the drum into the correct position. Make sure the drum fully seats down into the printer.
– Close the top cover and push the resume button.
Print Quality Issues
There are orange protective plastic pieces on the front and sides of the drum unit which must be removed prior to installation.
The OPC drum is located on the top of the drum unit protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter. Lift the shutter to visually inspect the OPC drum unit. Do NOT touch the OPC drum. A soft, clean, dry, lint-free, cloth can be used to gently wipe the OPC drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct drum unit for your specific printer model. Make sure you are not trying to replace a toner cartridge, this is just an imaging drum unit. Verify that all the orange plastic protective pieces were removed from the drum unit. Check inside the printer for any obstructions. Check the drum unit itself for physical damage.
