THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT FOR THE COMPATIBLE.
The UG5540 is the high capacity version of the UG5530 toner cartridge. Both cartridges are physically and visually the same however the UG5540 has considerably more toner inside. The UG5540 should be recommended over the UG5530 as it is the better value.
This is a compatible cartridge so there will be some differences between this and the OEM. These differences will not affect the function. On our compatible cartridge drum unit is built into the cartridge itself and is not removable whereas on the OEM the drum unit is separate from the toner cartridge. You will need to remove both the old OEM toner and OEM drum from the printer and install our compatible to replace both.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
This toner cartridge does not use a smart chip. It uses a page counter that must be MANUALLY reset when the new toner cartridge is installed. If the toner is still reading low or reads that the toner is out then the page count was not reset. If this happened and the new toner is already installed do the following;
– Press the Function button.
– Press 7 and 8 then press Set.
– Press 5 and then press Set.
– When the screen shows Toner Replacement? press 1 to select Yes.
NOTE: Depending on how many pages were printed before the page count was reset the cartridge may become empty before the printer gives the notification that the toner is low.
To remove and install this cartridge into a Panasonic UG-7000, UG-8000, and UG-9000 printer do the following;
– Open the front cover.
– Lift the toner cartridge up. If you are replacing an OEM toner make sure you lift both the OEM toner and OEM drum unit together.
– Pull the toner cartridge out from the printer. If you are replacing an OEM toner make sure you remove both the OEM toner and OEM drum unit together.
– Our compatible toner cartridge has the drum built in and will be installed as one complete unit. Place the cartridge over the guide rails and insert it until it stops.
– Push down on the cartridge until it clicks down into place.
– Close the front cover.
– The printer will ask is a new toner was replaced. Press 1 to select Yes. This will reset the page count. If this step is skipped or if No is selected then the printer will still read the toner as low or needing replacing.
Print Quality Issues
There is a piece of paper held on by tape on the front of the cartridge which will need to be removed prior to installation.
Holding the cartridge by its sides, gently roll it from left to right a few times to redistribute the toner.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge. Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris. Do NOT touch the drum. A soft, dry, clean, lint-free, cloth can be used to gently clean the OPC drum if needed. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
Leaking
This toner does not have any pull seal tabs and as a result a little toner dust on the cartridge is normal. The protective paper cover that covers the OPC drum helps contain any loose dust. However, vibrations during shipping may cause the roller to rotate a little and allow a little toner powder to leak. This is normal. You can clean excess toner dust off the cartridge by gently wiping the cartridge with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth or gently blowing on it. Be careful with compressed air as this may blow too powerfully and blow toner powder out of the cartridge. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. If you are replacing an OEM toner make sure that you removed the OEM drum as well before installing our compatible cartridge. Our compatible cartridge has the drum unit integrated with the toner cartridge. Check inside the printer for any obstructions. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
