THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT.  THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located on the left side of the cartridge. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.

Print Quality Issues

There is a piece of paper that covers the OPC drum and a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation.  It is important that the pull tape seal is fully removed from the cartridge.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape seal probably hasn’t been removed or has broken off while being removed.

Holding the cartridge by its ends, gently rock it back and forth and side to side a few times to redistribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.

The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift the plastic shutter to view the OPC drum.  Do NOT touch the drum.  Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris.  A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the OPC drum.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
