INK TANK – These don’t have a print head attached so DO NOT perform the paper towel method.
The T124 Series cartridges are the moderate yield versions of the T125 Series standard yield. Both series are physically the same however the T125 Series contain more ink inside the cartridge. The T125 Series should be recommended over the T124 moderate yield cartridges as the T125 are the better value.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model printer.
Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and fully inserted. Make sure that they are installing the right color into the right slot.
There is a smart chip on the cartridge located on the end that is installed into the printer. Check to see if there is any dirt or damage on the gold contact points. It’s normal for the Epson name on the chip to be crossed out with permanent marker. You can use a dry Q-tip to gently wipe the chip contacts. Do not touch the chip with your fingers, as finger print oil can cause false readings.
You can try resetting the machine. To do this; remove the cartridges from the printer, power the printer off, unplug the power cord for 10-15 seconds, re-insert the power cord, turn the printer on, and re-insert the cartridges.
To install the cartridges into an Epson WorkForce 320, 323, or 325 printer do the following;
– Press the Menu button, press ▲ or ▼ to select Maintenance, and press OK. Then select Ink Cartridge Replacement and press OK.
– Lift the scanner.
– Open the cartridge cover.
– Squeeze the tab on the cartridge and lift up.
– Insert the new cartridge into the holder, making sure you are installing the correct color into the correct slot, and push it down until it click into place.
– Close the cartridge cover and push it down until it clicks into place.
– Lower the scanner.
– Press OK to begin priming the ink. This takes about 2 ½ minutes to complete. You will see a competion message on the LCD screen when finished.
Print Quality Issues
There’s a clear piece of plastic covering the nozzle at the bottom of the cartridge. Do NOT remove this clear piece of plastic, the printer will puncture this during the charging cycle. There is a piece of yellow tape which MUST be removed prior to installation. Be careful not to touch the chip contacts while handling the cartridge.
Try shaking the cartridge or gently tapping it on a hard surface. Take caution if the cartridge has already been open as ink may leak out of the punctured nozzle and vent hole. A paper towel can be used to cover these two holes before attempting to shake or tap to prevent ink leakage.
A print nozzle cleaning should be performed when experiencing any type of print quality issue. To perform the print nozzle cleaning on the Epson WorkForce 325 do the following (NOTE: Other printers that use these cartridges may have different instructions on accessing the nozzle cleaning, please refer to the User’s Guide available on Epson’s site for instructions on a specific printer)
– Make sure plain white copy paper is loaded in the printer.
– Press ▲ or ▼ to select Maintenance, then press OK.
– Press ▲ or ▼ to select Head Cleaning.
– Press the Color button. Cleaning will take around 2 ½ minutes. A completion message will display once it is complete. Press 2 to run a nozzle check to make sure the problem has been resolved.
If the cleaning does not resolve the print quality issue run a second cleaning but allow the printer to sit for 15 minutes before attempting to print anything. This allows the ink to soak on the print head and loosen any contaminants. Print nozzle cleaning does consume ink so it should be done sparingly.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer model. Make sure the correct color is being installed into the correct color slot. There are ridges on the back of the cartridge which are removed to allow the cartridges to fit in a variety of printers, check these ridges to see if they are causing the cartridges not to fit.
Also, check inside the printer for any obstructions and check the cartridges themselves for physical damage.
