THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE IMAGING DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer.
This cartridge uses an internal fuse that acts as a “smart chip”. After a certain period of usage the fuse will break which tells the printer to replace the toner cartridge. If the printer continues to say to replace the toner and the cartridge is installed correctly then it’s possible the fuse was somehow damaged or came loose during shipping and a replacement cartridge may be needed.
Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and that the cartridge is fully inserted. There are cartridge slots inside the printer which help guide the cartridge into the correct position.
Print Quality Issues
There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation. It is important that this pull tape seal is fully removed from the cartridge. If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape seal probably has not been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.
Shake the cartridge from side to side five or six times to distribute the toner.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge and is protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter. Lift the plastic shutter to view the OPC drum. Do NOT touch the drum. Finger print oil can permanently damage the OPC drum. Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris. A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the OPC drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
