THESE TONER CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM INTEGRATED INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF.  THERE IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, DRUM UNIT FOR EACH COLOR.  BE SURE TO SEPARATE THE OLD DRUM UNIT FROM THE OLD TONER CARTRIDGE TO RE-USE IT WITH THE NEW TONER CARTRIDGE.

There are 4 colors in this series; Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.

These are compatible cartridges so there will be some differences from the OEM.  These differences will not affect the function.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.

Verify that the correct color is being installed into the correct slot.  Make sure the cartridge is fully inserted and locked into place.

To remove and install the toner cartridges into the Xerox Phaser 7300 Series printers do the following;

–          Pull the latch and lift open the top cover to the printer.

–          Make note of the positions of each color.  This printer uses 4 different color toner cartridges.  Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black.

–          Push the lock lever back on the color being replaced to release the cartridge.

–          Pull the toner up and out of the printer.  Be sure that the lock stays in the unlocked position while removing and once it is removed.  If the lever moves to the locked position toner powder will leak out of the cartridge.

–          IMPORTANT:  Make sure the drum unit is not removed along with the cartridge.  There is an individual drum unit for each color.  If the drum unit comes out make sure to separate it from the toner cartridge and re-insert the drum back into the printer.

–          Verify you are installing the correct color into the correct slot.  Insert the left side of the cartridge into the printer first then push the cartridge down firmly into place.  If the cartridge looks too small then the drum unit was removed with the old toner cartridge.  Reinstall the drum unit into the printer.  The toner cartridge installs into the drum unit.

–          Push the lock lever forward to lock the toner cartridge into place.  Make sure the cartridge fully locks into place.

–          Slowly and securely close the top cover.

Print Quality Issues

There is a tape seal that must be removed the toner cartridge prior to installation.  Ensure that this tape was fully removed from the cartridge.

Try gently tapping the toner cartridge onto a hard surface to loosen the toner powder inside.  Be careful to not do this over carpeting or clothing as some toner powder may leak.  Do it on a hard surface that is covered with a paper towel or newspaper.

There is Diagnosing Print Quality page that can be printed from the printer to help troubleshoot print quality issues.  To print this page on the Xerox Phaser 7300 Series do the following;

–          At the front panel, scroll to the Printable Pages Menu using the ▼ or ▲ keys and press OK.

–          Scroll to Diagnosing Print Quality using the ▼ or ▲ keys and press OK.

–          Look at the printed page which will help identify print quality issues.  Follow the directions printed on the page.

Almost all ghost imaging, streaking, lines, or repetitive image defects will be an issue with the drum unit.  There are individual drum units for each color that will need to be replaced over time, usually after 4-6 toner cartridge changes.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer.  If the cartridge appears too small then you probably removed the drum unit with the old toner cartridge.  Check the old toner cartridge and make sure the drum unit is not still attached.
