THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
Make sure that the cartridge is fully inserted into the printer and is installed correctly.
There’s no smart chip on this cartridge. Instead, Canon recommends replacing the toner when the prints are light and rocking the cartridge has no effect.
To remove and install the toner in a Canon MF5570 do the following;
NOTE: The procedure will similar on other Canon printers that use the X25. For exact instructions on a particular Canon printer refer to the User’s Guide which is available on Canon’s website.
– Open the front cover.
– Pull out the old toner cartridge from the printer.
– Hold the new cartridge and align the projections (A) on both sides of the cartridge to the guides (B) in the machine, then gently slide the cartridge into the machine as far as it will go.
– Close the front cover.
Print Quality Issues
There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation. It is important that this pull tape is fully removed. If the cartridge is printing blank pages or printed one page and now prints blank pages then the pull tape seal probably hasn’t been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.
Rock the cartridge 5 or 6 times to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.
If the toner is smearing off the paper or isn’t adhering properly, make sure the paper settings on the printer match the paper type being used. Thicker paper, such as labels or bonded paper, require a different paper setting to allow more heating while printing to ensure the toner melts properly to the paper. Trying to print on thicker paper while under that standard paper setting will cause the toner not to get enough heat to melt properly.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge and is protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter. Lift up the shutter to visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris. A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the drum if necessary. Do NOT touch the OPC drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Check to make sure the pull tape seal has been removed from the side of the cartridge. Check inside the printer for any debris which may be impeding the cartridge from going in. Check the toner cartridge for any physical damage.
