INK TANK – The print head is not integrated into the cartridge. Do NOT perform the paper towel method.
The PGI-35 is pigment based ink and the CLI-36 is dye based ink. The CLI-36 is a quad color and contains black, cyan, magenta, and yellow.
These are compatible cartridges so there will be some appearance differences from the OEM cartridges. These differences will not affect the function.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
There’s a smart chip located on the end of the cartridge. Check the chip for damage or debris. A clean, soft, lint-free, cloth or coffee filter can be used to gently clean the gold contacts.
Make sure the cartridge is fully seated in the printer and is clicked into place. There’s a red light that will light on the cartridge carriage when the cartridge is installed properly.
To remove and install the cartridge into a Canon IP100 do the following;
– Open the printer cover. The ink carriage will automatically move to the center
– Push the tab and remove the ink tank
– Insert the new ink tank into the printer with the chip facing you. Push down on the cartridge until it snaps into place. Check to make sure the ink lamp lights up red.
– Close the printer cover. The printer will then charge the ink.
Print Quality Issues
There’s an orange protective clip on the bottom of the cartridge that must be removed prior to installation. Be sure not to touch the chip on the cartridge.
For any print quality issue a print head cleaning should be performed. To run a cleaning on the Canon iP100 do the following;
– Hold down the RESUME/CANCEL button until the power lamp flashes green once, and then release it immediately.
It may be necessary to run a second cleaning to fully resolve the print quality issue. If the second cleaning doesn’t resolve the issue run a third cleaning but allow the printer to sit for 10 minutes BEFORE attempting to print anything. This allows the ink to soak on the print head and loosen any clogs. Cleaning does consume ink so it should be done sparingly.
Try gently shaking the ink tank being carefully not to touch the nozzle pad on the bottom.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model printer. Make sure you are installing the cartridge into the right slot of the carriage, the PGI-35 black goes on the right and CLI-36 quad-color goes on the left. The chip should be facing away from the printer when installing the cartridge. Verify the orange clip has been removed.
