INK TANK – The print heads are NOT integrated, do NOT perform the paper towel method.
These are compatible cartridges; there will be appearance differences from the OEM cartridges. These differences will not affect the function of the cartridges.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer model.
These cartridges do not use smart chips. Instead, the printer has an optical sensor that determines if a cartridge is present. Gently rock the cartridge to redistribute the ink inside the cartridge, be sure to cover the vent hole and nozzle with a paper towel to prevent ink leakage. Sometimes, air bubbles can cause false readings and rolling the cartridge will help remove them. For ink levels the printer uses an ink dot counter that counts the ink dots printed onto the pages printed to calculate what the ink level will be at. This ink dot counter is reset when a new cartridge is installed and Yes is selected when the printer asks if a new cartridge is installed.
Be sure that the correct color is being installed into the correct color slot. Also, check to make sure the cartridge is fully seated and snapped into place.
To remove and install the cartridges in a Brother MFC-7150/60C printer do the following;
NOTE: Other Brother printers that use the LC02 cartridges is a similar process. For exact instructions on other Brother printer models you can view their User’s Guides on Brother’s website.
– Press Ink Management
– Press < or > to choose 2. Replace Ink
– Open the top cover. Open the ink cartridge covers by pressing the clips together.
– Remove the ink cartridge by lifting it up and out of the print head.
– Each color has its own correct position. Insert each new ink cartridge into the carriage using the color indicator on the print head as a guide. Close the cartridge cover until it clicks into place.
– After installing the ink cartridges, close the top cover. The printer will prepare for a head cleaning. The display screen prompts you to verify a new ink cartridge was inserted for each color that was removed. For each new cartridge press 1 to select Yes to reset the ink dot counter for that color automatically. If No is selected then the ink dot counter will not reset and the new cartridge will still view as low or empty. The printer will then perform a print head cleaning
Print Quality Issues
Slowly and carefully remove the foil tape on the bottom of the cartridge. This opens the vent hole and nozzle on the bottom of the cartridge.
For any print quality related issue a print head cleaning should be performed. Try to determine which color the defect is occurring in. Print a test page and see if the problem is only occurring with one color or if it is occurring across all the colors. To print a print quality test page on a MFC-7150/60C do the following;
– Press Function, 2, 1. The screen will display 1. Test Print
– Press Set
– Press Start. The printer will begin printing the test page
– Press Stop to exit
– Look at the test page that printer to try to determine the print quality issue
Two cleanings may be required to resolve a print quality problem. If the second cleaning does not resolve the issue try running a third cleaning but allow the printer to sit for 10 minutes before attempting to print. This allows the ink to soak on the print head. To perform a print head cleaning on a MFC-7150/60C printer do the following;
– Press Ink Management
– Press 1 to choose 1. Cleaning
– Press < or > to choose the color you want to clean
– Press Set to clean the print head automatically
For print head cleaning instructions on other Brother printers that use the LC02 cartridges the User’s Guides are available on Brother’s website.
Remove the cartridge and cover the vent hole with a paper towel. Check the nozzle on the front to ensure that it has been properly punctured. Check the slot in the printer to make sure there is no debris which may be interfering with the ink flow.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Check to make sure the correct color is being installed into the correct slot. Make sure the cartridge is pushed all the way down and that the cartridge cover is clicked into place. Ensure you have the cartridge in the right direction.
