INK TANK – The print heads are NOT integrated, do NOT perform the paper towel method.
These are compatible cartridges; there will be major appearance differences from the OEM cartridges. These differences will not affect the function of the cartridges.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer model.
These cartridges do not use smart chips. Instead, the printer has an optical sensor that looks at a “window” on the front of the cartridge. Try gently rolling the cartridge to redistribute the ink inside of the the cartridge and to ensure there are no air bubbles present that may give a false reading.
Be sure that the correct color is being installed into the correct color slot. Also, check to make sure the cartridge is fully seated and snapped into place.
To install the cartridges in a Brother MFC-240C printer do the following;
NOTE: Other Brother printers that use the LC51 cartridges are a similar process. For exact instructions on other Brother printer models you can view their User’s Guides on Brother’s website.
– Open the ink cartridge cover. Pull the lock release lever down and take out the ink cartridge(s) that need replacing.
– Each color has its own correct slot so make sure the right color is being installed. Insert the cartridge into the printer.
– Lift each lock release lever and push it until it clicks, and then close the ink cartridge cover.
– The printer will ask if a new cartridge was installed for the color that was replaced. Press 1 to select yes. The printer will then charge the new ink.
Print Quality Issues
Do NOT remove the clear piece of plastic covering the nozzle on the front of the cartridge. The printer will puncture this during installation. Make sure to remove the yellow tape on the top front of the cartridge. This opens a vent hole.
For any print quality related issue a print head cleaning should be performed. Try to determine which color the defect is occurring in. Print a test page and see if the problem is only occurring with one color or if it is occurring across all the colors. To print a print quality test page on a MFC-240C do the following;
– Press Ink
– Press the up or down arrows to choose Test Print and press OK
– Press the up or down arrows to choose Print Quality and press OK
– Press Color Start
– Check the quality of the four color blocks on the sheet
Two cleanings may be required to resolve a print quality problem. If the second cleaning does not resolve the issue try running a third cleaning but allow the printer to sit for 10 minutes before attempting to print. This allows the ink to soak on the print head. To perform a print head cleaning on a MFC-240C printer do the following;
– Press Ink
– Press the up or down arrows to choose Cleaning and press OK
– Press the up or down arrows to select either Black, Color, or All depending on which print head needs cleaning, the cleaning process will begin
For print head cleaning instructions on other Brother printers that use the LC51 cartridges the User’s Guides are available on Brother’s website.
Remove the cartridge and cover the vent hole with a paper towel. Check the nozzle on the front to ensure that it has been properly punctured. Check the slot in the printer to make sure there is no debris which may be interfering with the ink flow.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Check to make sure the correct color is being installed into the correct slot. Sometimes these cartridges may need to be pushed more firmly than the OEMs to click into place properly. Ensure you have the cartridge in the right direction and try re-installing while pushing firmly until the cartridge clicks into place.
Our compatibles look very different from the OEMs and this can throw people off. Although the compatibles differ greatly in appearance from the OEMs, our compatibles will fit and function.
