INK TANK – The print head is NOT integrated, so DO NOT perform the paper towel method.
This black cartridge is pigment based ink.
These are re-manufactured cartridges which mean the casing is an original Epson casing that’s been refilled, relabeled/sealed, and re-programmed/re-chipped.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model printer.
There is a smart chip located on the side of the cartridge. Check the chip for debris or damage. A clean, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the gold contact points. It’s normal for a permanent marker mark to be covering the Epson name on the chip.
Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and fully inserted.
To remove and replace the ink tank on the Stylus Photo 925 and 935 printers do the following;
NOTICE: The illustrations show the replacement of the color cartridge; however the black cartridge is the same procedure with the exception it’s in the left slot.
– Open the printer cover.
– Press the ink drop button to bring over the print head to the cartridge replacement position.
– The black cartridge will be the cartridge on the left. Open the cartridge cover and lift the cartridge out of the printer.
– Lower the new cartridge into the holder on the left side. Rest the cartridge on top of the hooks.
– Close the ink cartridge cover. Press Custom button 1 and close the printer cover.
– The printer will begin charging the ink. When you see the message that charging is complete, press Custom button 1 to finish.
For instructions on different Epson printer models you can view the User’s Guides of specific Epson Printers on Epson’s website.
Print Quality Issues
There’s a piece of tape on the top of the cartridge covering the vent holes that must be removed prior to installation. Do NOT remove the clear pieces of plastic covering the nozzle on the bottom of the cartridge; the printer will puncture this during the charging process. Do NOT flip the cartridge upside down once the tape has been removed or ink leakage may occur.
A print head cleaning should be performed when experiencing any type of print quality issue. Print head cleaning does use a lot of ink so it should be done sparingly. Epson recommends that if the first cleaning doesn’t resolve the issue to perform a second clean but allow the printer to sit for 10-15 minutes BEFORE attempting to do any printing. This allows the ink to soak on the print head and help soften or loosen any dried ink which may be clogging the nozzles. To perform the cleaning on the Stylus Photo 925 and 935 printers;
– Use the down arrow button to highlight Advanced Settings, then press the Select button.
– Use the down arrow button to highlight Head Cleaning, then press the Select button.
– To begin cleaning, press Custom button 1.
Also, remove the cartridge, cover the top vent holes with a paper towel, and check the bottom to make sure the nozzle has been punctured. While the cartridge is out check the slot in the printer to make sure there is no debris that may be blocking the ink from coming out correctly.
Not Fitting
Verify you are installing the black cartridge into the left hand slot. Double check the cartridge number on the cartridge to verify it is indeed the correct cartridge. Make sure you are installing the cartridge in the correct orientation, turn the cartridge around and try it again.
