INK TANK – The print head is not integrated into the cartridge. Do NOT attempt the paper towel method.
The black cartridge is physically thicker than the color cartridges.
These are compatible cartridges so there will be some appearance differences between these and the OEM cartridges. These differences will not affect the function of the cartridge.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer model.
These cartridges do not use smart chips. Make sure the cartridge is firmly installed into the printer. Covering the vent hole and nozzle with a paper towel, try gently shaking the cartridge.
To remove and install the cartridges into a BJC-600 series printer do the following;
– Press and hold the ON LINE button until the printer beeps to cap the print head. Open the printer cover
– Lift up the front of the old cartridge and slide it out of its slot.
– Slide the new cartridge into its slot, make sure you are installing the correct color into the correct slot.
– Push down on the top of the ink cartridge and make sure it fully seats down.
– Close the printer cover and press the ON LINE button to set the printer back online.
– Run a custom print head cleaning on the colors that you have replaced.
Print Quality Issues
There’s a piece of tape that must be removed prior to install which opens a vent hole. Do NOT remove the clear plastic or foil that covers the nozzle. The printer will puncture this when the cartridge is installed.
These cartridges are transparent so you will be able to physically see the liquid ink inside the cartridge. This will help determine if a cartridge is indeed empty.
For any print quality related issue a print head cleaning should be done. Before running the cleaning, try to determine which color is giving the issue. Print a couple test pages and see if the problem is occuring across all the colors or is only occuring in areas where a particular color is. Print head cleaning does consume ink so it should be done sparingly. If the first cleaning doesn’t work, run a second cleaning but allow the printer to sit for 10 minutes so the ink can soak on the print head and loosen any dried ink before attempting to print.
To run a print head cleaning in Windows;
– Open the print window. To do this try to print a page, such as a web page. When you select print a window will pop up, this is the print window. Don’t press the Print or OK button. Click on Properties.
– In the screen that opens you will have the option to do a thorough (deep) cleaning on all the print heads, a quick cleaning on all the print heads, or a custom cleaning where you can select the specific color print head to clean. Choose the option which best fits the print quality situation.
If cleaning doesn’t work you can remove the cartridge and visually check the ink level. Be sure to cover the nozzle and vent hole with a paper towel to prevent leakage. You can also check to make sure the nozzle has been punctured properly while the cartridge is out.
Not Fitting
Make sure you are installing the correct color into the correct color slot. Also, verify you have the correct cartridges for your printer.
