This toner cartridge does not have the OPC drum built into it. The drum unit is a separate, replaceable unit.

Not Recognizing

 

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

 

This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located on the bottom of the cartridge. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.

 

Make sure that the sealing tape which covers the toner hole on the bottom of the cartridge has been fully removed.  You will need to slide the toner shutter to the side and then pull the tape off.  The tape is two pieces, so be sure that all tape has been removed then slide the toner shutter closed.  CAUTION:  Once the tape has been removed it is possible for toner powder to leak out of the toner hole while the shutter is open.  It is important this seal tape is removed, if it is not then the toner powder will not drop into the printer and will cause an error.

Print Quality Issues

 

Holding the cartridge by its ends, gently roll the cartridge left to right a few times to ensure the toner powder is evenly distributed inside the cartridge.

 

Ghost imaging, streaks in the page, repeating patterns, and dead spots are almost always caused by their drum unit which is separate from the cartridge.  The drum unit is a maintenance item that will need to be replaced from time to time.

 

You can run an Image Quality Test Pattern to help determine print quality issues.  There are 19 available patterns to best determine print quality.  To access the Image Quality Test Patterns do the following;

1.      On the machine’s menu screen, go to Tools > Machine Tests > Image Quality Test Patterns.

2.      Use the scroll buttons to select one of the 19 available test patterns.

3.      Select the Feature button to test either 1 sided or 2 sided printing from the available trays.

4.      Select the Start Test button to begin the test.

 

Look at the outputted test pattern page to determine the printing defect.
