THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT.  THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

There is no smart chip on this cartridge so it’s key that the cartridge is installed correctly into the printer and is fully inserted.  Open the front cover by pressing on the two release levers on either side of the front cover.  Insert the cartridge along the guides in the printer and push it down until you cannot push it any further.

You can also try resetting the printer by turning the printer off, disconnecting the power cord for 10-15 seconds, plugging the printer back on, and turning the printer on.

Print Quality Issues

There’s a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation.  It is important that this pull tape seal is fully removed.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape seal probably hasn’t been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.

Holding the cartridge by its ends, rock it back and forth 5 or 6 times to even the toner inside.

If the toner is smearing off the paper or isn’t adhering properly, make sure the paper settings on the printer match the paper type being used.  Thicker paper, such as labels or bonded paper, require a different paper setting to allow more heating while printing to ensure the toner melts properly to the paper.  Trying to print on thicker paper while under that standard paper setting will cause the toner not to get enough heat to melt properly.

The OPC drum is located on the back of the cartridge and is protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift the plastic shutter to view the OPC drum.  Do NOT touch the drum.  Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris.  A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the OPC drum.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
