THIS CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM UNIT INTEGRATED.  THE DRUM UNIT IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEM.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct drum unit for your specific model printer.

There is no smart chip on this cartridge so it’s key that the cartridge is installed correctly into the printer and is fully inserted.  Open the bypass tray and open the side cover to gain access to the toner cartridge.  Gently insert the toner cartridge along the guides until it locks in the place while pushing the lock release lever.

You can also try resetting the printer by turning the printer off, disconnecting the power cord for 10-15 seconds, plugging the printer back on, and turning the printer on.

Print Quality Issues

There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be removed.  It is important that this pull tape seal is fully removed.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape seal either has not been removed or broke off in the cartridge when it was being pulled.  It is better to remove the seal tape while the cartridge is installed into the printer to prevent toner leakage.

There is also a toner seal on the front of the cartridge that must be removed prior to installation.

Grasp the cartridge on both sides and shake it horizontally four or five times to redistribute the toner.

Ghosting, lines, streaking, and repeating image defects will be an issue with the drum unit which is a separate maintenance item.  The drum unit will need be replaced usually after 4-6 toner changes.  We do not currently carry replacement drum units.
