THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT.  THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model printer.

There is a smart chip located on the top of the cartridge.  Check the chip for damage or debris.  A clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to clean the two gold contacts.

Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and is fully inserted into the printer.  There are tracks inside the printer that the cartridge aligns with and then the cartridge is pushed forward until it is properly seated.

Print Quality Issues

There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be removed prior to installation.  Make sure that the pull tape seal is fully removed from the cartridge.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages then they probably haven’t removed the pull tape seal or it has broken off inside the cartridge.

Grasp both sides of the print cartridge and distribute the toner by gently rocking the print cartridge.

The OPC drum is protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift up the shutter to view the OPC drum.  Do NOT touch the drum.  Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris.  A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the drum.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
