These are all 3 packs now EXCEPT the 7 pack Black.  We still have inventory of the older 4 packs so a customer may receive a 4 pack instead of an ordered 3 pack.  Do NOT reship, this is normal.

These are not inkjet or toner cartridges but rather wax cubes which the printer melts and uses to print using a separate print head.  They are compatible so their shape may differ greatly from the OEM sticks however they will fit and will work.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct sticks for your specific model printer.

Being that these are wax cubes there is no smart chip or any kind of electronics on the cartridge.  Instead, there is a bar shape molded into the bottom of the stick that acts as a “smart chip”.  When the stick is installed into the printer the bar fits into a specific groove where the printer senses it and knows a stick is installed.  Sometimes when removing the ink stick from its packaging the bar shape on the bottom of the ink stick can be damaged if it is pressed on to remove the stick from the packaging.  Check the bar on the bottom to make sure it has not broken off.

When installing the cartridge into the printer you want to make sure that the bar, “smart chip”, is facing down.  This is the bottom of the cartridge and needs to be facing down to fit in the proper groove for the cartridge to be recognized correctly.

Make sure the sticks are installed correctly and have properly slid into the appropriate color slot.  The color slots are keyed into a specific shape which should only allow the correct color to be installed.

Print Quality Issues

Xerox has built in cleaning utilities to help with issues such as smearing, lines, and fuzziness.  To access these cleaning options;

  • Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button on the Control Panel to select [Troubleshooting] on the Display Screen, and then press the [OK] button.

  • Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Print Quality Problems], and then press the [OK] button.

  • Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select which image defect is occurring (smearing, lines, etc.), and then press the [OK] button.  The printer will go through its cleaning cycle based on the selection.

It may be necessary to run a cleaning twice to fully resolve the print quality defect.

If there are blank lines going through the pages or ghosting images then their maintenance kit on the printer may need to be replaced.  The maintenance kit contains a maintenance roller that keeps the surface of the Imaging Drum clean and oiled as well as contains a new wiper blade.  The maintenance kit will need to be replaced over time usually after anywhere from 10k to 30k pages are printed depending on if they have a standard or extended capacity maintenance kit installed.
