THESE TONER CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM INTEGRATED INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF.  THERE IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, DRUM UNIT FOR EACH COLOR.

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located under the description label of the cartridge. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.

Make sure the cartridge is properly locked.  There is a colored lever that must be twisted to the right as far it will go to lock the cartridge.  It’s also important they are installing the correct color cartridge into the correct slot.  From left to right the order is Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black.

Okidata states that anytime you replace a toner cartridge you must clean the LED head for that color.  The LED heads are located under the top cover on the printer.  Use a soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the LED head.  You will need to open a shutter to gain access to the LED head.

If the LED heads are not cleaned after changing a toner cartridge then print quality issues may occur such as faded images, white stripes, or blurred letters.

Print Quality Issues

As mentioned above, make sure you have cleaned off the LED heads in their printer if you are getting faded images, white stripes, or blurred letters.

There is a tape seal that also must be removed the toner cartridge prior to installation.  Ensure that this tape was fully removed from the cartridge.

For light prints you can also try shaking the cartridge by holding it by its ends and gently rocking it side to side a few times to evenly distribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.

Almost all ghost imaging, streaking, lines, or repetitive image defects will be an issue with the drum unit.  There are individual drum units for each color that will need to be replaced over time, usually after 4-6 toner cartridge changes.  We do sell replacement drum units.
