THESE TONER CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM INTEGRATED. THE DRUM UNIT IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEM.
NOTE: These are compatible cartridges so their appearance may differ greatly from the OEM. They will still work and their appearance differences will have no effect on their performance.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific model printer.
It is important to make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and fully locked into place. Make sure the cartridge is in the unlocked position when installing; if it’s in the locked position it will not fit properly.
If you are receiving a toner sensor error this may be caused by two things.
1. The cartridge lock lever is not in the correct position.
2. The transfer belt lock levers are not in the correct position.
It is important that the cartridge is fully locked into position. You may need to push down on the top of the cartridge while twisting the lock lever to fully ensure that lock lever goes into the correct position.
Check both transfer belt lock levers to ensure that they are in the correct position. To gain access to the transfer belt you will need to remove all the toner cartridges and then remove all of the drum units. When removing the drum units it is essential that they go back in the correct order so take note of their positions in the printer before removing them.
Print Quality Issues
There’s two pieces of tape that will need to be removed prior to installation. One is holding the lock lever into place and the other runs along the side of the cartridge and covers the toner holes.
Gently shake the toner from to side to side to loosen and distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.
Ghosting, streaking, lines, and repeating image defects are drum related issues. There is an individual drum unit for each color. The drum units will usually need to be replaced after 4-6 toner changes.
Check the outputted pages to see if the defect is occurring with just one particular color or if it is happening across the board. Such as lines are only appearing in areas which use cyan or if the lines occur through all the colors. If it’s just one color, troubleshoot that cartridge or replace that drum unit.
If the prints are coming out blurred, faded, or have white lines then the LED heads on the printer may need cleaning. The LED heads are located under the top cover of the printer which you open to gain access to the toner cartridges. Using an extremely soft, dry, clean, lint-free cloth gently wipe the LED heads. Do NOT use moisture of any kind and do NOT use an abrasive cloth. Use a microfiber towel or eye glass lens cloth, do not use a paper towel. Do NOT touch the LED heads with your hands or fingers.
