THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
There’s a smart chip located on the front of each toner cartridge which has four gold connection points. Make sure the chip is clean and undamaged. You can use a dry, clean, lint-free cloth to clean the connections.
Check that the toner cartridge installed correctly and fully inserted into the printer. There are tabs on the sides of the cartridge that correspond with grooves within the printer that will guide the cartridge into the correct position until it locks into place.
Print Quality Issues
There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be removed prior to installation. It is important that this pull tape is completely removed from the cartridge as this releases the toner powder. If the pull tape seal is not removed the cartridge may print 1-2 pages then begin to print blank pages. There is also foam holder on the back of the cartridge that must be pulled off prior to installation. Instead of foam, it may also be in the form of a plastic holder.
Check to verify that both these seals have been removed from the cartridge. If you are having trouble fitting in the cartridge then the foam holder/plastic holder may still be installed on the cartridge. The pull tape seal may sometimes just be a crumpled piece of tape as its end.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge covered by a spring loaded plastic shutter. Lift the shutter up to view the drum. Do NOT touch the OPC drum. You can use a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently clean the drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
Holding the cartridge by its ends, gently rock the cartridge back and forth a few times to redistribute the toner inside the cartridge.
