INK TANK – THIS CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE THE PRINT HEAD INTEGRATED. DO NOT DO THE PAPER TOWEL METHOD WITH THIS CARTRIDGE.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific model of printer.
There’s a smart chip located on the bottom inside of the cartridge. Check the chip for damage or debris. A Q-tip can be used to reach and wipe the gold contacts if needed.
Make sure the cartridge is firmly pressed into place. If the cartridge is not pushed down far enough the chip will not make proper contact. Also try removing then reinstalling the cartridge.
To remove and install this cartridge into a Pitney Bowes Connect 1000, 2000, or 3000 machine do the following;
– Select the Settings button on the Home screen.
– Select Hardware, then select Printer.
– Select the Ink Cartridges tab.
– Select Replace Ink Cartridge.
– Open the ink cartridge cover.
– Pull the ink cartridge straight out.
– The system warns you that the ink cartridge is not installed. Select Clear message.
– Hold the ink cartridge with the label facing upright and push into place. The 787-1 is the #1 cartridge and goes into the LEFT slot of the machine.
– Close the ink cartridge cover.
– Select Print Test Sample to verify that you have installed the ink cartridge correctly.
– Check the test sample. If the lines are solid and unbroken, the sample is acceptable. Select Image is OK – Done.
Print Quality Issues
A print nozzle cleaning should be performed any time there are print quality issues. To run the print nozzle cleaning do the following;
– Select the Settings button on the Home screen.
– The Settings screen displays. Select Hardware.
– Select Printer.
– Select the Print Head tab.
– Selec the Clean Print Head button. Print head cleaning takes approximately one minute to complete. A progress bar indicates the cleaning status on the screen.
– Once the cleaning process is complete, you will be prompted to print a test sample.
The printhead is a maintenance item and is replaceable. The print head will need replacing after a certain period of usage.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Be sure the tape has been removed from the outside of the cartridge. Check inside the machine to make sure there are no obstructions which may be preventing the cartridge from installing. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
