THIS IS A STAND ALONE DRUM UNIT, THE TONER CARTRIDGE IS NOT INCLUDED. THE DRUM UNIT AND TONER CARTRIDGE ARE TWO SEPARATE UNITS. THE OLD TONER CARTRIDGE OR A NEW TONER CARTRIDGE WILL NEED TO BE USED WITH THIS DRUM UNIT
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct drum unit for your particular machine.
Make sure that the drum unit is properly installed into the machine.
To install the drum unit in a Panasonic KX-MB271 and MB781 do the following;
– Make sure the toner cartridge is installed into the drum. The toner cartridge is separate from the drum unit. Place the toner cartridge (3) into the drum unit (4) vertically.
– Press down the toner cartridge firmly (5).
– Make sure that the triangles (6) match, to install the toner cartridge correctly.
– Lift the top cover release lever (7) and open the top cover (8). Do NOT touch the transfer roller (9).
– Install the drum and toner unit (11) by holding the tabs.
– Make sure that the triangles (12) match, to install the drum and toner unit correctly.
– Close the top cover until locked.
Print Quality Issues
If the prints are coming out light, make sure that the toner save feature is not activated on the machine. To ensure this feature is disabled, do the following;
– Press #, 482.
– Select 0 to deactivate this feature.
If the toner is smearing or smudging off the page, it may be necessary to switch the paper setting to higher stock. You can access the paper type settings by pressing #, 383
If streaking or lines are appearing on documents that are being photo copied make sure the white plates and scanner glass are clean.
If the streaking, line, or ghost images are happening when printing a document from the printer this is a drum related issue and the drum will need to be replaced.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct drum unit for your particular machine.
There is a white protective paper held on by tape that must be removed prior to installation.
Make sure you are installing the drum unit with the separate toner cartridge installed. Verify you are inserting the drum unit in the correct orientation.
