THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
There’s a smart chip located on the side of the toner cartridge. Make sure the chip is clean and undamaged. For recognition issues it’s best to remove the toner cartridge from the printer, disconnect the power cord for the printer for 10-15 seconds, re-connect the power cord, and then re-insert the toner cartridge
Ensure that the toner cartridge is properly installed and fully inserted.
To install this toner cartridge into a Panasonic KX-MB1520 machine, do the following;
– Open the front cover (1).
– Hold the toner cartridge (1) by the center handle, then insert firmly to lock into place. Be sure NOT to touch the OPC drum.
– Close the front cover.
Print Quality Issues
For light printing, try shaking the toner cartridge horizontally 5 times.
For light printing as well, make sure that the Toner Save mode is not active. To check this, do the following;
– Press # then 482.
– Press 0 to turn OFF the Toner Save feature. Press 1 to turn ON the Toner Save feature.
The Toner Save feature will reduce the print quality by reducing toner consumption. Prints may appear lighter and have lower resolution.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge covered by a spring loaded plastic shutter. Lift the shutter up to view the drum. Do NOT touch the OPC drum. You can use a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently clean the drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
If the toner is smearing or coming off the printed page, it may be necessary to switch to a thicker paper type. This will need to be done from the Print dialog box that appears when you print a document on the computer. To access this;
– Select the document you want to print on the computer.
– Select Print from the File menu. The Print Dialog Box will appear
– Click on Preferences, then select the Basic tab.
– Change the Recording Paper Type to the next thickest paper type from what is currently selected.
This toner has a page yield of 2,500 pages maximum. Toner cartridge life depends on the amount of content in a printed document. Toner cartridge life varies in actual usage. To achieve 2,500 pages the following is an example of the document coverage that would need to be printed EVERY time.
To get around 1,250 pages the print coverage on the page would need to be no more than the example below for EVERY page printed.
Around 800 pages will be obtainable if the print coverage of the example below is printed EVERY time.
There are various factors that determine the actual toner cartridge life, such as temperature, humidity, type of paper and how much toner you use for the number of pages per print job. The actual number of pages your toner cartridge will print may be significantly less than the estimates above if your machine is often used for printing small number of pages per job.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
There is an orange plastic protective cover (1) on the bottom of the toner cartridge that must be removed. Make sure that this cover has been removed and take care on NOT touching the OPC drum (2) or setting the toner cartridge down on a surface with the OPC drum facing down as the OPC drum can become scratched or damaged causing print quality issues.
Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct direction. Check inside the printer for any obstructions that may be interferring with the installation of the toner cartridge. Check the toner cartridge itself for physical damage.
