THESE CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM UNIT INTEGRATED.  THERE IS A SEPARATE OPC DRUM UNIT FOR EACH COLOR THAT IS A REPLACEABLE MAINTENANCE ITEM.

There are four colors in this series; Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model printer.

Make sure the cartridge is installed properly into the printer and the correct color is in the correct slot.

There is a smart chip located on the back of the cartridge.  Check the chip for damage or debris.  A lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the gold contacts.

To remove and install these toner cartridges into a Dell C3760/C3765 series printer do the following;

–          Grasp the grips on both sides of the front cover, and then pull it down to open.

–          Grasp the handle on the color toner cartridge that you want to replace, and then pull it out.

–          Make sure you have the correct color cartridge for the color being replaced.  Grasp the new toner cartridge by the handle and insert it into the correct color slot.  Push the cartridge until it stops.  Verify the cartridge is fully inserted.  Repeat for each color being replaced.

–          Close the front cover.

Print Quality Issues

Holding the handle on the toner cartridge, thoroughly rock it from side to side to evenly distribute the toner.

The toner cartridges dispense the toner via a toner shutter that opens when the cartridge is installed.  Make sure that the toner cartridge is installed fully into the printer.

If the colors are coming out light or off hue the Color Toner Density sensor may require cleaning.  Normally the printer will alert on the printer screen when this happens.  To clean the Color Toner Density Sensor do the following;

–          Make sure that the printer is turned off.

–          Push down the latch to open the rear cover.

–          Open the right side cover.

–          Turn the waste toner box lock lever 90-degrees counterclockwise to unlock the waste toner box.

–          Grasp the handle on the waste toner box and pull it out making sure to hold it upright so that the waste toner does not spill out.

–          Be careful in handling the waste toner bottle.  Do NOT touch the areas outlined below to prevent toner power getting on you.

–          Open the top cover.

–          Put your fingers through the loops on both sides of the transfer belt unit, and then pull it out.

–          Clean the CTD sensor as shown below using a clean, DRY cotton swab.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.

–          Make sure that the arrow marks on the transfer belt unit and the printer face each other, and then insert the unit into the printer until it clicks.

–          Close the top cover.

–          Reinsert the removed waste toner box.

–          Turn the waste toner box lock lever 90-degrees clockwise to lock the waste toner box.

–          Close the right side cover.

–          Close the rear cover.

If the entire print comes out light there’s a couple things to check;

–          Launch the Dell Toolbox on the computer (under Programs in the Start menu), click Maintenance on the Printer Maintenance tab.  Ensure that the ON check box under Non-Dell Toner is selected.

–          Verify that Toner Saver is not selected.

For light printing as well as streaking or line print quality issues it is important to make sure the Raster Optical Scanner Window is cleaned.  This should be cleaned any time the toner cartridges or drum units are replaced.  To clean this do the following;

–          Open the right side cover.

–          Turn the waste toner box lock lever 90-degrees counterclockwise to unlock the waste toner box.

–          Grasp the handle on the waste toner box and pull it out making sure to hold it upright so that the waste toner does not spill out.

–          Remove the cleaning rod from inside the printer.

–          Insert the cleaning rod fully into one of the four holes until it clicks into the interior of the printer and then pull it out.  Repeat this for each of the other 3 holes.  One time insertion is enough for each hole.

–          Return the cleaning rod to its original location.

–          Reinsert the removed waste toner box.

–          Turn the waste toner box lock lever 90-degrees clockwise to lock the waste toner box.

–          Close the right side cover.

If the toner smears or the print comes off the pages this occurs mostly due to an incorrect paper setting.  It sometimes may be necessary to switch to a thicker paper setting when using non-OEM cartridges and is required when printing to a thicker paper such as labels or bonded paper whether you are using OEM cartridges or not.  This issue can also be caused by a faulty drum unit or fusing unit.

If you are getting random spots, streaks, lines, or black pages these are drum related issues.  There is an individual drum unit for each color which will need to be replaced as part of the maintenance of the printer.

If you are getting white streaks on the page this is caused by a dirty Raster Optical Scanner window.  See the instructions outlined previously on cleaning this window.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer model.  Make sure that the correct color cartridge is being installed into the correct color slot.  Check to make sure any protective plastic covers or pieces of tape have been removed from the cartridge.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
