THIS IS AN INK CARTRIDGE WITH THE PRINT HEAD INTEGRATED.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model printer.

There may be a piece of tape present on the cartridge that covers the print head and some of the contacts.  Make sure this piece of tape has been removed if it’s present.

Using a coffee filter or a lint-free cloth gently wipe the gold/copper connection points found on the side of the cartridge.  Sometimes if dried ink, finger print oil, or some of the tape residue stays on the contacts it can cause the cartridge not to recognize.

Try removing and reinstalling the cartridge from the machine as sometimes it may just have a bad initial read.  You may also need to reset the machine.

To remove and install this cartridge in the Neopost IS280 do the following;

–          As a user, press MENU and type 12.3 or select the path through the menu

–          As a supervisor, press MENU and type 7.2.4 or select the path through the menu.

–          The cartridge will move to the replacement position and the cartridge replacement message will be displayed.

–          Open the cover, by pulling it towards you from the top left.  Pull on the left side of the blue lever, to unlock the cartridge.

–          Pull the cartridge towards you to disengage it.

–          Insert the new ink cartridge, and then push it forward until it stops.

–          Put the blue lever back into place.

–          Close the cover.

–          Press OK to validate.

Print Quality Issues

The print head is located on the bottom of the cartridge.  Do NOT touch the print head with your fingers.  Verify the piece of tape has been removed.

The cartridge comes with an alcohol swab to clean the printhead prior to installation.  Use the alcohol swab to gently wipe away any dried ink, then blot the printhead with a dry paper towel.

Take a warm damp paper towel or coffee filter and blot the cartridge with the print heads facing down onto the paper towel to remove the dried ink on the print head. Then, taking a DRY paper towel or coffee filter, hold the cartridge down against the paper towel for 2-3 minutes. A dry paper towel will wick the ink out. Do not wipe the print head as this may cause damage.
