THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
There are four colors in this series; Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.
These are remanufactured cartridges.
Not Recognizing
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–
NOTICE:
We do have some cartridges from these series that were shipped with the wrong region selected on the chip. However, fear not, there is a solution that can be done over the phone to resolve this issue while we correct our inventory.
If a cartridge(s) from a recent shipment (we have only just begun carrying these series), is not recognizing we can try to override this.
Power down the printer by holding down the power button until all the lights on the control panel turn off. Make sure the printer fully powers down and stops making any noise.
Turn the printer back on by pressing the power button twice.

The printer will go through its normal start up procedure however the cartridge(s) should now recognize. This will only resolve recognition issues due to the wrong region on the cartridge. If the cartridge(s) still doesn’t recognize and the troubleshooting in the bicycle technical document doesn’t the resolve the issue, it could just be a bad chip.

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model printer.
The cartridge does have a smart chip located on the top of the cartridge. Check the two gold contact points to ensure they are clean and undamaged. A clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the connections.
Make sure the cartridge is being installed correctly and is fully inserted. Also verify you are installing the correct color into the correct slot on the printer.
To remove and replace these toners in the Samsung CLP-680ND printers do the following;
– Press the cover release button and pull down the front print cover.
– Pull out the toner drawer.
– Grasp the handle of the color toner cartridge you are removing, and pull the cartridge up to remove.
– Make sure you have the correct color cartridge for the color you are replacing. Insert the toner cartridge into the correct color slot.
– Push the toner drawer back into the printer.
– Close the front cover.
Print Quality Issues
There is a plastic cover that protects the OPC drum that must be removed prior to installing the cartridge.
There’s a piece of paper on the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation.
There is no protective drum shutter on this cartridge to protect the OPC drum once the removable cover is removed so caution must be taken in handling this cartridge to prevent damage to the drum. Check the drum for any damage or debris. A dry, soft, clean, lint-free, cloth can used to gently clean the OPC drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
Gently rock the print cartridge from front to back to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge. This can help resolve light printing issues.
If you are receiving toner specks on the page then the paper may have absorbed too much moisture due to high humidity. The transfer roller on the printer may be dirty as well as the paper path inside the printer may need cleaning.
If you are getting faded areas, generally rounded, occuring randomly on the page this is due to the paper. The paper may have too much moisture due to high humidity or the paper may not be appropriate for your printer. Try using a different brand of paper.
If you getting vertical lines on your prints this can be caused by scratches on the drum unit. Check the drum unit of the color displaying the lines. If the verticals lines are white, the LSU (laser scan unit) inside the printer may be dirty. Clean the inside of the printer.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer model. Make sure the correct color is being installed into the correct color slot. Make sure all the protective covers and seals were removed from the cartridge. Check inside the printer for any obstructions. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
