THESE CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM UNIT INTEGRATED.  THERE IS A SEPARATE OPC DRUM UNIT THAT IS A REPLACEABLE MAINTENANCE ITEM.

There are four colors in this series; Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.

These are remanufactured cartridges.

Not Recognizing

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

NOTICE:

We do have some cartridges from these series that were shipped with the wrong region selected on the chip.  However, fear not, there is a solution that can be done over the phone to resolve this issue while we correct our inventory.

If a cartridge(s) from a recent shipment (we have only just begun carrying these series), is not recognizing we can try to override this.

Power down the printer by holding down the power button until all the lights on the control panel turn off.  Make sure the printer fully powers down and stops making any noise.

Turn the printer back on by pressing the power button twice.

The printer will go through its normal start up procedure however the cartridge(s) should now recognize.  This will only resolve recognition issues due to the wrong region on the cartridge.  If the cartridge(s) still doesn’t recognize and the troubleshooting in the bicycle technical document doesn’t the resolve the issue, it could just be a bad chip.

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model printer.

Make sure the cartridge is installed properly into the printer and the correct color is in the correct slot.

There is a smart chip located on the back of the cartridge.  Check the chip for damage or debris.  A lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the gold contacts.

Samsung has a reputation of doing stealth firmware updates, where they disguise a firmware update as a routine update.  A firmware update may lock out the use of aftermarket cartridges.  Usually when a firmware updates goes through cartridges that were once working will no longer read and/or a cartridge gives an incompatible error and you try others (reships, multiples in the same order, etc) which also won’t recognize.

To remove and install these toner cartridges into a Samsung CLP-365W printer do the following;

–          Press the cover release button and pull down the front cover.

–          Grab the color toner cartridge you are removing by its handles and pull it from the printer.

–          Make sure you have the correct color cartridge for the color you are replacing.  Grab the new cartridge by its handles and slide it into the correct color slot.  Use the guide channels in the printer to help ensure the cartridge is properly installed.  Make sure that the cartridge is fully inserted.

–          Repeat the above steps for each color you are removing and replacing.

–          Close the front cover until it clicks locked.

Print Quality Issues

There is an orange plastic protective cover that must be removed prior to installation.

Holding the handles on the toner cartridge, thoroughly rock it from side to side to evenly distribute the toner.

The toner cartridges themselves have rubber rollers on them that is used to dispense the toner powder.  You can check the rubber rollers for cracks or damage.  Do NOT touch the rubber roller and do NOT clean it off.  Toner powder on the rubber is normal and must NOT be wiped off.

If you are getting background scatter on the printed pages then the paper may have absorbed too much moisture due to high humidity.  Try printing with a new batch of paper.

If you are receiving solid color or solid black pages then the imaging unit in the printer is defective.

If the toner is loose on the page and comes off then the paper type you are using may be too thick.  The inside of the machine may also need cleaning or the imaging unit of the printer may be defective.  Also, adjust the paper settings on the printer itself.  If you are printing on labels or thicker paper than standard copy paper, including bonded paper, adjust the paper setting to match the paper type you are printing on.

If you are getting horizontal stripes then the drum unit may not be installed properly in the printer or is defective.

During the printing process, paper, toner, and dust particles can accumulate inside the printer.  This buildup can cause print quality issues such as toner specks or smearing.  To clean the inside of the printer do the following;

–          Press the release button and open the front cover.

–          Remove all the toner cartridges from the printer by pulling them out using the handles.

–          Remove the waste toner container by pulling it out and the drum unit by pulling out.

–          Using a dry, lint-free, cloth gently wipe down the inside of the printer to clean out any toner or debris.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.

–          Re-install the drum unit then the waste toner container.

–          Insert all the toner cartridges.  Make sure you install the correct colors into the correct color slots.

–          Using a dry, lint-free cloth, wipe down the inside of the front cover and make sure the contact pins are clean.

–          Close the front printer cover, make sure it clicks locked.

Almost all issues with ghosting, lines, streaking, or repetitive print defects will be an issue with the separate OPC drum unit.  The toner cartridges do not have the OPC drum built in.  The OPC drum is a separate, replaceable, maintenance item.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer model.  Make sure that the correct color cartridge is being installed into the correct color slot.  Check to make sure any protective plastic covers or pieces of tape have been removed from the cartridge.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
