THESE TONER CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM INTEGRATED.  THE DRUM UNIT IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEM.

There are 4 colors in this cartridge series; Black, Magenta, Cyan, and Yellow.

These are high yield cartridges.

Not Recognizing

 

Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer model.

 

Make sure the correct color cartridge is installed into the correct color slot.

 

There is a smart chip located on the top end of the cartridge.  Check the chip for damage or debris.  A clean, dry, lint-free, cloth can be used to gently clean the gold contacts.

 

To remove and install these cartridges into a Xerox Phaser 6700 printer do the following;

–          Open the front door.

 

–          Gently pull the color toner cartridge you are removing out of the printer.  Be careful not to spill any toner when removing the cartridge.  Take note of the different locations of the colors.

 

–          Make sure you have the correct color for the color you are replacing.  Align the arrow on the cartridge with the arrow on the correct color slot in the printer, and then push the cartridge in slowly until it stops.

 

–          Close the front door.

 

Print Quality Issues

 

There is a piece of black tape covering the toner shutter which must be removed prior to installation.

 

For any print quality issue you will want to try to determine if the problem is occurring with a specific color or if it is occurring across the board.  There is a menu option that will help identify print quality issues.  To run this utility do the following;

–          Select [Printer] on the touch screen located on the printer.

–          Select the [Tools] tab.

–          Select [Troubleshooting].

–          Select [Troubleshoot Print Quality].

–          Select [Print] to print the tutorial.

 

The printer will print a suite of test pages that help identify specific print quality problems and lists possible solutions on how to minimize or eliminate these problems.  Using these test pages, move on to resolving the print quality issue by doing the following;

–          Select [Printer] on the touch screen.

–          Select the [Tools] tab.

–          Select [Troubleshooting].

–          Select [Resolve Problems].

–          Select the menu item associated with the print quality problem determined previously, and then follow the instructions displayed to resolve the problem.  The printer will display a solution on the touch screen.  For example, below is the solution screen if Vertical Lines or Streaks is selected.

 

Try shaking the cartridge up and down 3 times to loosen the toner inside.  Sometimes the toner powder can become compacted inside the cartridge.

 

For white lines or streaks the problem is usually dirty laser windows in the printer.  To clean these laser windows do the following;

–          Power off the printer.

 

–          Open the front door.

 

–          Remove the cleaning rod from the back of the front door.

 

–          Insert the cleaning rod into one of the four cleaning holes until it clicks, and then pull it out.  Repeat this two more times.  Repeat this process for the other 3 holes.

 

–          Return the cleaning rod to its original location and then close the front door.

 

If you are receiving smearing or smudging then the fuser in the printer may be dirty.  There is an onboard cleaning function to help resolve a dirty fuser issue.  To run this cleaning function do the following;

–          Select [Printer] on the touch screen located on the printer.

 

–          Select the [Tools] tab, and then select [Troubleshooting].

 

–          Select [Resolve Problems].

 

–          Select [Smears, Smudges, and Streaks].

 

–          Select [Start Cleaning].  Several blank pages will feed through the printer to remove any toner accumulated on the fuser.

 

Streaking, lines, ghost imaging, and repeating image defects are drum related issues.  There is a separate, individual, drum unit for each color.  These drum units will need to be replaced after a certain period of usage.  If the above cleaning did not resolve the issue then the drum unit for colors exhibiting the issue may need replacing.

 

If the toner is not adhering to the page and flakes off, especially when printing on paper thicker than standard plain copy paper (IE label paper, bonded paper, etc), this can be caused by the fuser in the printer or more commonly, the incorrect paper setting on the printer.  When printing on any paper outside of standard plain paper, you will need to manually switch the paper setting through the control panel on the printer itself.  The paper setting is usually found through the menu option Settings and then Paper on the printer.  Go to Paper Type or Paper Setting and make sure the correct paper type is selected for the paper you are printing to.  Changing the paper setting ensures the fuser gets hot enough to transfer the heat through the thick paper and properly melt the toner.  If you are printing to standard paper and are experiencing toner adhesion problems, this can still be resolved by selecting a thicker paper type setting on the printer.  It could be a case of too much moisture in the paper or toner which requires a hotter fuser or longer fuser contact time to properly melt the toner.

 

Not Fitting

 

Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer.  Make sure the correct color is being installed into the correct color slot.  Check inside the printer for obstructions.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
