Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer.
There’s a smart chip located on the back of the cartridge. Check to make sure the two gold contacts are clean and undamaged. You can use a clean, dry, soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the contacts.
Make the cartridges are installed correctly and are installed into the correct color slot.
Try turning the printer off, disconnecting the power cord for 10 seconds, then powering back up.
To remove and install these into an HP Color Laserjet 3000 do the following;
– Open the front door.
– Remove the color cartridge you are replacing. Make sure to take note of the different locations of the colors.
– Make sure you have the correct color cartridge for the color you are replacing. Align the print cartridge with the tracks inside the printer that correlates with the correct color, and using the handles, insert the print cartridge until it is firmly seated.
– Firmly close the front door.
Print Quality Issues
There are two orange protective rings which must be removed prior to installation.
There is a pull tape seal which must be removed from the cartridge prior to installation. If the cartridge started printing blank after a few pages or prints blank pages, the pull tape seal has not been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.
Try to determine if the print quality issue is occurring with one color in particular or if the issue is occuring across all the colors. Look at the printed pages and see if the issue is only noticeable in areas where one particular color is. Such as only where there is blue there is a streak. Or the lines on the page are always magenta. There are print quality troubleshooting pages to help diagnose and solve print quality problems. To print these pages do the following;
– Press MENU
– Press ▼ to highlight DIAGNOSTICS, and then press the check mark button.
– Press ▼ to highlight PQ TROUBLESHOOTING, and then press the check mark button to print the pages.
Calibrating the printer can solve a variety of print quality issues. To calibrate the printer do the following;
– Press MENU
– Press ▼ to highlight CONFIGURE DEVICE, and then press the check mark button.
– Press ▼ to highlight PRINT QUALITY, and then press the check mark button.
– Press ▼ to highlight FULL CALIBRATE NOW, and then press the check mark button.
During the printing process, paper, toner, and dust particles can accumulate inside the printer. Over time, this buildup can cause print quality issues such as toner specks or smearing. There is a cleaning mode that can be ran to resolve these issues. To run the cleaning do the following;
– Press MENU
– Press ▼ to highlight PRINT QUALITY, and then press the check mark button.
– Press the ▼ to highlight CREATE CLEANING PAGE, and then press the check mark button.
– Remove all paper from Tray 1
– Remove the cleaning page and load it face down in Tray 1
– At the printer control panel, press ▼ to highlight PROCESS CLEANING PAGE, and then press the check mark button.
If the toner is smearing off the paper or isn’t adhering properly, make sure the paper settings on the printer match the paper type being used. Thicker paper, such as labels or bonded paper, require a different paper setting to allow more heating while printing to ensure the toner melts properly to the paper. Trying to print on thicker paper while under that standard paper setting will cause the toner not to get enough heat to melt properly.
The OPC drum is located on the front of the cartridge and is protected by a spring loaded plastic cover. Pull up the spring loaded cover to view the OPC drum. Do NOT touch the drum. Check the OPC drum for any damage or debris. You can use a clean, dry, soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
Holding the cartridge by its ends, gently roll the cartridge left to right a few times to redistribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Verify the correct color is being installed into the correct color slot. Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct orientation. Check inside the printer for any obstructions which may be causing the cartridge not to install correctly. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
