Xerox 106R01221, 106R01218, 106R01219, and 106R01220 High Yields

Also 106R01217, 106R01214, 106R01215, and 106R01216 Standard Yields

THESE TONER CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM INTEGRATED.  THE DRUM UNIT IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEM.

There are four colors in these series; Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.

These are compatible cartridges so their appearance may differ greatly from the OEM.  They will still work and their appearance differences will have no effect on their performance.  The high yield cartridges are physically larger than the standard yield.

Not Recognizing

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.

This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.

To remove and install the cartridge into a Xerox Phaser 6360 Series printer do the following;

–          Open the top cover.

–          Push the colored lock knob to the unlocked position on the color cartridge you are replacing then pull the cartridge out of the printer.  Make sure to take note on the different locations of the colors.

–          Verify you have the correct color cartridge for the color being replaced.  Insert the cartridge into the correct color slot.  Twist the lock knob until it clicks into the locked position.

–          Close the top cover.

Print Quality Issues

For any print quality issue you will want to try to determine if the problem is occurring with a specific color or if it is occurring across the board.  Check printed documents to see if the issue is only occurring where a specific color is.

Holding both ends of the toner cartridge, shake it side to side a few times to distribute the toner evenly.

The printer has a variety of cleaning and troubleshooting features to assist with resolving print quality issues.  If smears are occurring on the page, run the Remove Print Smears function.  To run this do the following;

–          Select Troubleshooting on the control panel, and then press the OK button.

–          Select Print Quality Problems, and then press the OK button.

–          Select Remove Print Smears, and then press the OK button.  Three cleaning pages will run through the printer.  You may need to run this function multiple times to fully resolve the issue.

For repeating image defects run the Repeating Defects function.  This will help you determine which item on the printer needs replacing.  To run this do the following;

–          On the control panel, select Troubleshooting, and then press the OK button.

–          Select Print Quality Problems, and then press the OK button.

–          Select Repeating Defects, and then press the OK button.

–          Follow the instructions on the page to measure the distance between the defects and then identify the item causing the defects.

–          Replace the item causing the defects.

If printed documents appears to be blurry, hazy, or have halos then run the Color Registration function.  To do this do the following;

–          On the control panel, select Troubleshooting, and then press OK.

–          Select Print Quality Problems, and then press the OK button.

–          Select Color Registration, and then press the OK button.

–          Follow the instruction on the page that prints.

If the colors are appearing faded or too dark then colors made need calibrating.  To calibrate the colors do the following;

–          On the control panel, select Troubleshooting, and then press the OK button.

–          Select Print Quality Problems, and then press the OK button.

–          Select Calibrate Colors, and then press the OK button.

–          Select Tutorial Page, and the press the OK button.

–          Follow the instructions on the printed page.

Streaking, lines, ghost images, and repeating image defects are drum related issues.  The drum unit is a separate, replaceable, maintenance item.  After a certain period of usage (usually 4-6 toner changes) the drum unit will need to be replaced.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.  Verify the correct color is being installed into the correct slot in the printer.  Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct orientation.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions which may be causing the cartridge not to install correctly.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
