Print Quality Issues
There is a white plastic protective cover on the front of the cartridge which must be removed from the cartridge prior to installation.
Shake the cartridge horizontally 4 or 5 times to redistribute the toner inside the cartridge.
The toner is dipensed from the cartridge to the drum unit using a rubber roller located on the front of the cartridge. You can check this rubber roller for damage or debris. Do NOT touch the rubber roller. Do NOT use moisture of any kind on the toner cartridge.
If copies start getting streaks or blotches, the transfer charger may be dirty. To clean the transfer charger do the following;
– Open the multi-bypass, then open the side cover while pressing the side cover open button.
– Take the charger cleaner out by holding the tab. Set the charger cleaner onto the right end of the transfer charger, gently slide the cleaner to the left end, and then remove it. Repeat this operation two or three times.
– Return the charger cleaner to its original position. Close the side cover by pressing the round projections near the side cover open button.
– Close the side cover and multi-bypass tray.
If the toner is smearing off the paper or isn’t adhering properly, make sure the paper settings on the printer match the paper type being used. Thicker paper, such as labels or bonded paper, require a different paper setting to allow more heating while printing to ensure the toner melts properly to the paper. Trying to print on thicker paper while under that standard paper setting will cause the toner not to get enough heat to melt properly.
Lines, streaking, ghosting, and repeating image defects are drum related issues. The drum unit is a separate, replaceable, maintenance item and will need to be replaced after a period of usage. Usually after 4-6 toner changes.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Make sure the white plastic protective clip has been removed. Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct orientation. Check inside the printer for any obstructions. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
