THIS CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM UNIT INTEGRATED. THERE IS A SEPARATE DRUM UNIT WHICH IS A REPLACEABLE MAINTENANCE ITEM.
Not Recognizing
Verify they have the correct drum unit for their specific model printer.
This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located under the plastic tab in the middle of the cartridge. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.
To remove and install this toner cartridge into a Lexmark W840 printer do the following;
– Open the front cover.
– Grasp the toner cartridge by the handle. Lift the print cartridge up and out of the printer.
– Holding the print cartridge by the handle, insert it into the printer. Slide it in until it snaps into place.
– Close the front cover.
Print Quality Issues
Roll the cartridge several times to loosen the toner powder inside the cartridge.
Almost all ghost imaging, streaking, lines, and duplicating image defects will be a result of a problem with the drum unit. The drum unit is a maintenance item that will need to be changed out after around 4-6 toner changes.
This toner is pretty basic and almost all print quality issues will be drum or printer related. The toner cartridge simply releases toner powder into the drum unit via a shutter on the bottom of the cartridge that is opened when the cartridge is pushed into the printer.
Lines, streaking, ghosting, and repeating image defects are drum related issues. The drum unit is a separate, replaceable, maintenance item. It will need to be replaced usually after 4-6 toner changes.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Check inside the printer for any obstructions which may be causing the cartridge not to fit properly. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
