THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT.  THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.

Not Recognizing

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.

This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located on the side of the cartridge. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.

Be sure that the cartridge is installed properly and is fully inserted into the printer.

To remove and install this toner in a Xerox Phaser 4500 series printer do the following;

–          Open the top cover.

–          Grab the toner cartridge by the handle, and remove it from the printer.

–          Using the rails inside the printer to align the cartridge, insert the new toner cartridge into the printer and make sure it is fully seated.

–          Close the top cover.

Print Quality Issues

Gently shake the toner cartridge from side to side 5-6 times to redistribute the toner.

There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be removed prior to installation.  It is important that this seal is completely removed.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages or after 2-3 pages it is now printing blank then the pull tape seal has not been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.

If the toner is smearing off the paper or isn’t adhering properly, make sure the paper settings on the printer match the paper type being used.  Thicker paper, such as labels or bonded paper, require a different paper setting to allow more heating while printing to ensure the toner melts properly to the paper.  Trying to print on thicker paper while under that standard paper setting will cause the toner not to get enough heat to melt properly.

The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge covered by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift the shutter up to view the drum.  Do NOT touch the OPC drum.  You can use a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently clean the drum.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
